Beaver Lake is looking for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders who want to have fun during winter break. This camp is filled with nature related activities, crafts, and games designed to have fun and beat the winter blues. Indoor activities will include live red-tailed hawk and turtle talks, while outdoor activities will involve snowshoeing, wildlife tracking and fun in the snow. Children may attend for one day or all four.

Winter Wonders Week is Beaver Lake Nature Center's answer to cabin fever during the school Winter Break week. From February 21 -25, the Nature Center will feature both indoor and outdoor activities. Visitors will have the opportunity to get out and enjoy winter by participating in Ice Cutting or Walking in Search of Wildlife Signs (weather permitting). Folks will be able to warm up in the Visitor Center and learn about the Featured Creature. In addition, trails will be open for skiing. All scheduled activities are free with park admission.
10:00 am - Ice Harvest - Tuesday & Thursday
10:00 am - Build a Snow Cave - Wednesday
10:00am - Build Snow Animals - Friday
Monday - Friday
1:30 pm - Creature Feature
2:00 pm - Guided Snowshoeing - Topic: Where do the Woodland Animals Go When the Snow Flies? - (Snowshoe Rental $3)

Beat the icy chill of a cold winter evening by relaxing at the Nature Center sipping and savoring a variety of wines. Each participant will receive a complementary wine glass, tasting notes, learn the dynamics of wine and food pairings. 50/50 raffles and prizes will be offered. This will be an evening to relax and enjoy being with friends, while you learn about a variety of wines from our wine expert.

New for 2012 - Families can share the experience of hiking in the winter woods by moonlight at Beaver Lake Nature Center. A bonfire awaits as a naturalist leads participants out of the woods after a peaceful walk. The price includes the hike, snowshoe rentals (if enough snow), and hot chocolate with marshmallows and candy canes.
